This article discusses the influence of meditation, social interaction, and self-control (sila) in overcoming online gambling addiction in the digital age, drawing on the principles of Buddhist teachings. This study employs a structural equation model to evaluate the relationships between these variables. The results of the analysis indicate that meditation has a significant positive influence on online gambling addiction, with a high beta coefficient. Furthermore, self-control acts as a strong mediator in the relationship between meditation and online gambling addiction, whilst social support also makes a positive contribution, albeit not as strong as the other two variables. These findings support Buddhist teachings that emphasise the importance of moral discipline and positive social support in overcoming addiction. The results suggest that an internal approach through self-awareness and emotional regulation derived from meditation is more effective in helping individuals resist the temptation to gamble. Thus, this study confirms that meditation and self-control are key pillars in breaking the cycle of online gambling addiction, offering valuable insights for the development of more effective intervention strategies in the context of addictive behaviour.
