About the Journal

Kajian & Reviu Jinarakkhita: Jurnal Gerakan Semangat Buddhayana (JGSB), known in English as Jinarakkhita Review and Studies: Journal of the Buddhayana Spirit Movement, is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality scholarly articles exploring ideas and academic reflections on the Buddhayana Spirit Movement, humanistic Buddhism, Buddhist religious studies, and various dimensions of societal life through the lens of applied Buddhism. The journal adopts an objective and constructive peer review process, ensuring that each manuscript is rigorously evaluated based on scholarly merit and research integrity. JGSB features both original research and comprehensive literature reviews in the field of Buddhist religious studies, including canonical Buddhist texts, insights into the Buddhayana perspective, humanistic Buddhism, Buddhist literature; Buddhist sermons (Sutta Pitaka); monastic discipline and regulations (Vinaya Pitaka); exegetical texts (Abhidhamma Pitaka); studies of various Buddhist schools; as well as Buddhist philosophy and sacred art. It also encompasses research on the historical development of Buddhism, the Buddhist heritage of the Indonesian archipelago, the evolution and advancement of Indonesian Buddhism, and the teachings and guidance of the Late Most Venerable Ashin Jinarakkhita, particularly within the context of the Buddhayana Spirit Movement. Furthermore, the journal welcomes discussions on Buddhist ethics and all branches of Buddhist scholarship, embracing both orthodox and contemporary perspectives. What sets this journal apart is its distinctive focus on integrating Buddhist viewpoints into the scholarly examination of religious moderation issues, particularly as they intersect with diverse aspects of societal life, such as art, culture, philosophy, and the advancement of global civilization.

Vol. 4 No. 1 (Oktober – April 2026) Pada edisi ini, kami menghadirkan beragam kajian yang merefleksikan dinamika pemikiran Buddhis dalam menjawab tantangan kehidupan modern. Artikel-artikel yang disajikan merupakan kontribusi para peneliti dari 3 Negara serta 7 institusi berbeda, Indonesia, Prancis, dan Thailand, yang mencerminkan keragaman latar belakang keilmuan, tradisi, serta pendekatan metodologis dalam studi Buddhisme kontemporer. Melalui tema-tema yang diangkat, edisi ini menggambarkan keluasan spektrum kajian agama Buddha mulai dari pelestarian tradisi spiritual, pengembangan model berbasis ajaran klasik, hingga refleksi etika dalam praktik sosial dan budaya. Keberagaman topik ini mencerminkan keluasan kontribusi institusional dan intelektual yang terlibat dalam edisi ini, sekaligus menegaskan bahwa ajaran Buddha tetap relevan dan adaptif dalam berbagai konteks kehidupan.

Semoga setiap artikel menghadirkan wawasan baru, memperdalam refleksi, serta membuka ruang dialog lintas disiplin dan budaya.

Jinarakkhita Review: Journal of the Buddhayana Spirit Movement (JGSB) Vol. 4 No. 1 (October - April 2026) In this issue, we present a collection of studies reflecting the dynamic development of Buddhist thought in addressing contemporary life challenges. The articles are contributed by researchers from Indonesia, France, and Thailand, representing a diversity of academic backgrounds, traditions, and methodological approaches in contemporary Buddhist studies. Through its selected themes, this edition illustrates the breadth of Buddhist scholarship from the preservation of spiritual traditions and the development of models grounded in classical teachings, to ethical reflections within social and cultural practices. The diversity of topics in this issue reflects a wide range of institutional and intellectual contributions, highlighting the continued relevance and adaptability of Buddhist teachings across different contexts.

May each article offer fresh insights, deepen reflection, and foster interdisciplinary and cross-cultural dialogue.
